Pub and Pig: Timmy’s 30th Birthday

I must admit that ever since Tim and I started dating, I began thinking of how to throw him an awesome 30th Birthday party.

Creepy?  Maybe.

My original hope was to throw him a surprise party, but I can’t keep any secrets from him.  As soon as I thought of the greatest birthday party of all time…I immediately told him…and there went the surprise.

“Welcome to Timmy’s ‘Pub & Pig’ 30th Birthday!!”

I had actually been planning this party since before the wedding, because I knew that if I didn’t at least think about what I wanted to do…I would drop the ball.  Call me crazy, but I felt that dropping the ball on a pretty monumental birthday…and the first birthday as his wife…that would probably be a bad sign.

So…what does “Pub & Pig” mean?  Well…it was just my fancy way of saying, “We’re having a beer tasting birthday party with a lot of beer and pork related food.”  Pub & Pig sounds better.

The idea was pretty simple:  assign everyone a category of beer and have them each bring a chilled six-pack in their category…and then load up the party with lots of beer and pig menu items. :)

  • BBQ Pulled Pork
  • Four Bean Baked Beans (loaded with beef and bacon)
  • Coleslaw
  • Broccoli Farfalle Salad (with bacon)
  • Beer cheese Dip
  • Blue Moon Cupcakes
  • Chocolate Stout Cupcakes w/ Bailey’s Whipped Frosting

The number one lesson that I learned from throwing this birthday party?

Making frosting is hard.

I couldn’t have controlled my face even if I wanted to.  Everything was so amazing, and I may or may not have drooled a little bit during “Defying Gravity.”  I’m not even going to pretend I’m sorry for that.

Tim said he spent half the time watching me watch the show…but assured me that he did enjoy it.

Happy 30th Birthday Timmy!!
